Week 5 - Installing and Configuring Process

There is brief Installing and configuring process of multiple devices and operating systems in the book CompTIA A+ Certification All-In-One Guide, (Chapters 10-12). In chapter 10, the author is listing all common peripherals such as Keyboards, mouse, touch pad, smart card readers, scanners/QR, touch screens, digital cameras sound processors etc.… Not only listed the common peripherals, but there are also enough clear ideas on how to install/connect them, troubleshooting minor issues. It covers the installation and configuration of printers, including local and network printers. It also emphasizes printer connectivity options like USB, parallel, network (Ethernet, Wi-Fi), and Bluetooth. The chapter also explains how to manage print jobs, configure printers for sharing, and resolve common printing problems. In chapter 11, the author provides an overview of various types of mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, laptops etc.) hardware and operating systems. The important part covers m...

Week 4 - Hardware Repair

When performing computer hardware repair, it's important to pay attention to several key points to ensure successful and safe repair. Safety precautions, Diagnosing the problem, component capability, using proper tools, component replacement, handle software issues separately, reassemble carefully are the major things that I have learned from the video and my own research.  1.  Safety Precautions: v   Power Off & Unplug: Always make sure the computer is turned off and unplugged from the power source before starting any repairs. v   Ground Yourself: Use an anti-static wrist strap to avoid damaging sensitive components with static electricity. Alternatively, ground yourself by touching a metal object. v   Handling Components Carefully: Avoid touching the pins or contacts on components (like RAM, CPU, or motherboard) to prevent damage. v   Heat: Some parts, like CPUs and power supplies, can get hot. Be cautious to avoid burns. 2. Diagnosing...

Week 3- Selection of CPU, RAM and Processor

Choosing the right CPU is the biggest challenge for non-tech people in this century. When choosing a CPU, we can consider such as number of cycles a CPU can perform per second called (GHz), number of cores and its purpose, compatibility of processor with the CPU and the budget. After I completed chapters 3 and 4 in a book, and other materials that have various information about processors, RAM (DRAM) manufacturers, SSD, coolers, and overall CPU selections, I would like to summarize some of the points in this post. Modern CPU's can process multiple commands in parts of commands in parallel. Intel and AMD have built in support for running more than one operating system at a time a process. (is called visualization) The CPU is composed of multiple chunks of circuitry to handle the many types of calculation our PC needs to do. When selecting a CPU you need to make certain the motherboard can accommodate or if you are buying a motherboard along with the CPU then get the right CPU fo...

Week 2 - Role of Motherboard in Computer

We have a conception of the computer means only the desktop or laptop in general. This concept may not be true if we discovered the history of the computer and how this is impacting the world now. According to the author Mike Meyers in the book CompTIA A+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide, Tenth Edition (Exams 220-1001 & 220-1002), he has explained that all the supportive electronic devices including pocket calculators to up to gas pump, airplanes and rockets etc. If we look at our latest model car, camera and other machines and devices where they command from, that is computer. Computer is a combined command operating system. Basically, basic level computers work through 3 stages which is called computing process i.e. input, processing and output. To complete computing process OS, CPU, UI, Motherboard, Ram, PCI express slots, sockets and other hardware are the major components. All mentioned components have their own specifications and need their supportive system. Operating...

Week 1 'Operating Systems'

Operating Systems Date- 12/01/2024 Beginners are always willing to learn from basic computer knowledge. Today I would like to talk about operating systems which will include definitions, type and uses. Learning computer makes me hunger for many things. Operations system is the software that allows a user to run applications on any computing device. OS helps to manage to support basic functions and manage a computer’s hardware resources. As of today, there are many operating systems in use in the world. Mainly it shows that OS are used for Mobile, Laptop and Computers. Android, windows, iOS, OS X, Linux and some other are currently the most useful OS. If you deeply research it, there are MS-Windows, Ubuntu, Mac OS, Fedora, Solaris, Free BSD, Chrome OS, CentOS Dabian in the market.   One report shows that Android, Windows and iOS are the most useful operating systems in the world which lead with 85% of devices. The main reason is how fast the system works; how strong OS supports ...
